I have tried to install CRM 2011 on a fresh Windows Server 2012 (Hyper-V Virtual) and found nothing but issues during the installation. MS states an additional setup pack is required to support WS2012 and will be available at the same time as RU13 but nothing can be found either online or the Microsoft Update Catalog. Can anyone advise on how to complete an installation of CRM 2011 on a WS2012 server (without the original hack)?

There's a great site with everything you need to know about CRM Installation includin step-btstep guides and tutorials for installation on Win 2012. Check it out :
hi,
The install process didn't go further because it appeared that the Windows Server 2012 was a volume license image. There was an article somewhere on internet that said I had to use a specific download of the CRM 2011 installer package to overcome a problem with some files that were not on this Windows Server 2012 install.
So I downloaded that and stramed the update via the xml in the installer. It did go through, although it gave some errors during install that I could ignore.
After that I installed the latest rollup (14) and it was good to go. I added this machine as a new full role server to an existing machine; then changed DNS settings and afterwards uninstalled CRM on the old server (Windows Server 2008 R2)? That process I must admit went very smoothly :-)
Thanks for your assistance.
have you downloaded the bits from the internet and extracted that in your Local machine before running the setup.exe
www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx
Thanks,
Mohammad
Hi,
I followed your specifications and all is well till step 12.
The installation indeed says "Setup has finished downloading the update", but if I click Next, I get this
Setup cannot proceed because an error occured while copying installer files to the local system: The upgrade cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade. (setup.cpp:CCrmSetup::CopyInstallerFiles:488).
Any idea what might be the cause ?
Thank you very much Mohammad, I have been on this for 3 hours now. but all is fine now...:)

It's late July and this is still not in place? Not to mention the SRS connector is also a grief ridden install on SQL 2012.
Hi,
I have a problem during connecting CRM 2011 on premises to Outlook 2013 on Windows 8.
Windows Identity Foundation is added in features.

if you have internet connection in CRM Server, this manual steps to install SHS is not required at all as SHS is part of the windows updates
If your Machine is not opted in to MU. To enable, Click on the Find out more info in Windows Update, under Control Panal Then agree and Install
Re-initiate the installation and it will work for you .
Thanks,
Mohammad
