Catch Weight - Nominal Qty vs Minimum Quantity

Hi,

I am trying to setup my inventory items as follows (and we are not using the advanced warehouse functionality):

  • Inventory UOM = Oz.
  • Catch Weight UOM = EA.
  • Unit Conversion - 1 EA = 0.5 ounces.

I create the item, and Nominal Quantity will default to 0.5.

First question - Is my assumptions correct that:

1. The Nominal Quantity - represents in Inventory UOM and will default to the my unit conversion setup - Where 1 EA=0.5 Oz - Meaning it default to the Inventory UOM for 1 Catch Weight UOM.

2. The Minimum Quantity - represents in C/W UOM (?) and you setup the the minimum catch weight UOM qty. (To have EA, I want this value to be 1). And I want this value to default as the default quantity on a Sales Order and Production Orders for the Formula's

Second question - I am facing the following issues:

  •  In the previous release - it allowed me to do the above setup. I only face issues on setting up Formulas, where the default Qty field seems to be incorrect. And the default value on the Sales Order seems incorrect.
  • But on the latest release - it is not allowing me to do the above setup.  After the new functionality for C/W for advanced warehouse was released - it will not allow you to save a Minimum Quantity < Nominal Quantity. The  nominal qty will default to 0.5, but you cannot save 1 in the min qty. It will automatically round to 1. And then give an error message that the minimum qty cannot be less than nominal qty.

What is the relationship between the nominal qty and minimum qty and how are they used. What does they represent and in which UOM - (Inventory or C/W Unit of measure).

Thanks in advance.
