Dimension restriction view of Global dimension value 2 based on dimension 1 selected?

I know that we can setup the dimension combinations so that certain combinations aren't allowed, but is there a way so that when a value is selected for Dimension 1, that the lookup for Dimension 2 will only list applicable dimension 2 values? Another secondary option could be to give a message if an invalid is selected to prompt that as opposed to now we don't find out until the user attempts to post the document. I know this will require a customization, but just wondering if that is something that could be done pretty easily, or if this would be complex to do or how to approach it.

There is no such functionality out of the box. You can check on AppSource if there are any apps available with the kind of functionality you are looking for.

appsource.microsoft.com/.../apps

The customization you are talking about is in theory pretty simple but once you start working on a solution like that you run into several things that needs to be handled.
