Could not add command Report Types - Error at login GP

GP2015

Have been running fine on all workstations until recently several started receiving this error message at login.  When you click ok 8 times the message will stop appearing and let you.

Could not add command Report Types

We have completed the following for troubleshooting:

  • Reviewed the windows update logs and can't find any updates that are different from other workstations that do not receive the error.
  • Restored the workstation to a timeframe prior to receiving the error message at login
  • Turned off all User Homepage customized tabs
  • User that normally does not receive the error message on their own workstation, receives the error message on the workstations receiving the error.  (workstation specific not user specific)

Looking for anyone that has seen this message before and what it might relate to.

Susan

If nothing was supposed to have changed, and if it's workstation specific, you can try just copying the entire Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics directory from a "good" workstation to the "bad" one.

    Hi Susan,

Lyn's suggestion is a good one.. However, just for the sake of investigation.. Are you sharing any module dictionaries in GP ? or are all the .DIC files stored locally on the workstations ?

I couldn't find anything in our case history where we've ever seen it either.

Since you mentioned the issue was workstation specific, you could try the following:

    >Make sure all forms and reports dictionary files are local as mentioned previously here.

    >Remove any third party products from the Dynamics.set file from Dynamics GP on this one workstation.

    >Create and use a new ODBC DSN setup as per KB 870416

    >Try running a Repair against the existing Dynamics GP install on this machine.

    >Install a second install of Dynamics GP on the same machine at same version/build, with no third party or customizations and see if you get the same errors at login.

    Thanks
