Is Business Central Extension that ***?

Scenario:

1. We use Designer to add 10 fields to Sales Order page, i.e. New Remark 1, New Remark 2, New Order Date, etc

2. Save as Extension123

3. After 1 weeks later, we do not want to show "New Remark 1".

As per our vendor Tectuxx, we have to uninstall Extension123 and use Designer to add the other 9 fields and save another Extension456.

This is a waste of time and stupid design. Is this the best practices for Business Central?

You have the designer and the personalize in Business Central.

Personalize is for the user to personalize the look and feel.

The designer is part of the developing process.

When developing extensions in the AL development environment, you have a wide range of possibilities. Designer in Dynamics 365 Business Central complements the development experience in Visual Studio Code. It provides an easy and convenient way to make immediate changes to your design by dragging and dropping the components on the page.

If you want to change the content of the extension, you can download the source code and modify it with Visual Studio Code and re-deploy it to the system.

Hi, You may be in the Sandbox environment and have not yet started using the Production environment.
Because Design does not exist in the Production environment.

I think your partner is asking you to uninstall the original and create a new one in order to facilitate the integration into his extension. Otherwise he needs to download a lot of design extensions.

In fact Design extensions can exist more than one in Sandbox, but not more than a certain number, which may prompt an error.

I would recommend trying Erik Hougaard's "Simple Object Designer" application. It's a very user friendly way of creating and managing those types of simple customizations to Business Central.

That's actually a very good question from customer's side -

See you saying you did some sort of design/personalization wherein you added say 7 columns as per your need and once your design part is complete system will prompt you to save it as a Extension which you did as Extension123 which holds information of your design.

If you wish to redesign anything without conflicting the information that Extension123 holds, you are good to go but something which is contradicting then how come you can have both extension installed wherein one saying I want this field and another I don't want for the same user.
