CRM 365 - Email Activities Expanded - No content

Hi Community,

we found a strange behaviour within CRM.

When opening a contact or account it happens that all Email activities within the social pane are expanded, but no content is shown.

When we collapse and expand the activity, the content is there.

The strange thing is, that this only happens within Internet Explorer.

It is working correctly with Firefox, Chrome and Edge.

I have the feeling that it is related to Windows Updates and IE Versions, as it is working on some machines and on other not...

It seems not to be related with CRM Version. I have tested with CRM 8.2.0.749 and also with the newest patch 8.2.2.112.

On both versions the same behaviour.

Does anyone know this behaviour and has a solution for this?

Thx in advance.

Gerald Gut

    Hi Gerald,

You might have already tried this, but have you added your CRM site to Trusted Sites in IE? Try doing that for one of the users, going to Tools, then Internet Options from the top of the browser. Then try accessing CRM again and see if the message continues.

    Hi Megan,

adding CRM site to Trusted Sites only results in always getting Popups asking for Credentials.

Unfortunately do not solve the problem.

    Thx anyway.

Sorry Gerald! Wish that had resolved it. Does it happen with all Accounts/Contacts in IE? And just curious, do the Activities have attachments on them?

    Hi Megan,

    thx for your reply.

The issue appears on all Accounts/Contacts. Only in IE.

All Email Activities are affected. We have Mails with Attachments and also without. Same behaviour.

It is also independent to the user.

E.g. for my user, the email activities are shown correctly on my workstation, but on my notebook I have the issue.

What I can say is, that I have different IE versions on my workstation and notebook. The notebook IE version is newer and the problem appear on the notebook.

But I also have uninstalled some Win Updates which also downgraded the notebooks IE version lower than the workstations IE version.

    Unfortunately no fix...

IE Version of Workstation (Activities do work):

IE Version of Notebook (Activites do not work):

    NB_5F00_IE_5F00_Versions.png

Newer IE Version of Notebook (Activites do not work):

    NEW_5F00_NB_5F00_IeVersion.png

After uninstalling some Win Updates on the Notebook the IE Version was something like:

    11.0.xxx.xxx

Would need to check again. But it was downgraded and also did not work.

I think it has something to do with a specific IE setting or Win Update as we already had strange CRM behaviors in the past year (2017) which were related to win Updates. In these cases uninstalling and blocking of the win update solved the problems...

But at the moment I am not able to identify such an update. :(

    Thx again and best regards,

    Gerald Gut

    Hi Gerald

Did you ever get this resolved?

    Thanks

    Hi Strujl,

it seems to be working now. As I did not change anything which I would say repaired this, I think the fix was somewhere in an IE update.

If it is of interest for you. My actual IE version looks as follows:

    Version 11.665.16299.0

    Update Versions: 11.0.85 (KB4457426)

Maybe you can update IE to this level and give another try.

I cannot obviate that the fix was included in another Win Update. But if I would be you, I would start testing with newest IE version.

    Best regards,

    Gerald
