SQL Server 2008 R2 Express slower response than SQL Server 2005 Express Sp3

I have just upgraded hardware and SQL version and I have noticed that the initial login and first query in SO manager is slower then it ever was using an older P4 computer 2gig and SQL Express 2005 SP3 vs my new Win 7 SP1, SQL 2008 R2 Express SP2.  I contacted support and got nothing.  I am looking for any advance setting in SQL 2008 to correct this issue.  Does anyone know of anything?
