2 to 3 Approvers workflow

Dear All,

I need a workflow whereby it has least 2 or 3 steps approvers i.e. Intiator>>Approver1>>Approver2 or Intiator>>Approver1>>Approver2>>Approver3 in business central. This workflow should not have any condition but should move across 2 or 3 approvers.
I trying to configure it but am getting challenges. Any idea?.

I have the same question (0)

You can create a workflow user group with users and define the sequence in the way you want.

    Hello,

Adding to Suresh's reply... I am attaching a Workflow Handout that will help.

    Thanks,

    Steve

RE: 2 to 3 Approvers workflow

    Thank you Suresh and David,

I have perused the materials that you shared and they were very helpful but I wasn't able to set a workflow that needs to independent cost centres.

What I mean is, I need a 2 to 3 step workflow whereby the workflow can support more than one cost centre. i.e.

    In cost centre A, I have Initiator A>>Approver1 A>>Approver2 A>>Approver3  A

    In cost centre B, I have Initiator B>>Approver1 B>>Approver2 B>>Approver3 B

    In cost centre C, I have Initiator C>>Approver1 C>>Approver2 C>>Approver3 C

like that in the same workflow. ]

In BC, you only have one workgroup in the workflow and when I place more than one person in the same sequence i.e. Approver 1 above, all the approvers 1 can approve. I needed a scenario whereby approver 1 cost centre C couldn't approve a document raised by initiator in cost centre A and the same goes to the other levels at the document moves across the hierarchy.

When I use Approver>>Direct Approver, the workflow can't have more than 1 Approver despite setting up Approval user Setup correctly.

Can BC support such kind of a Workflow?

    Romryan,

I have not completed tested this but I created the same Workflow, for the Document, 2 times. I added a Filter under 1st Event for Dimension Department.

Then added Workflow Group associated with the Department Code.

Then ran a test to see if only those Approvers got the Notification. I have to do more testing but this seems viable. Last resort would be to use Power Automate.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Thank you Steve,

From your screenshots I have seen a workgroup. How do you associated the workgroup with dimension? Is it possible to have active multiple workflow on one document i.e. Purchase Order such Each workflow can be associated to its workgroup?.

    Romryan,

I created 2 workflows for the same Document Type each with different filters to differentiate them. In my first pic, previous reply, you will add the Filter for the Dimension Code you are trying to filter (mine was Department Code). Then in the Workflow Group you will define that specific Workflow Group you want to process Approvals under that Department Code (2nd pic previous reply).

    Do you follow?

    Thanks,

    Steve

You should be able to do that by using a Workflow user group. So set the approver type to 'workflow user group' instead of 'approver'. Then add the 3 approvers to the workflow user group.
