Quick Find vs Global Search

When I am on the Contact entity, and looking at the quick find that searches across all of my contacts, I come up with 130 results when searching on the name "*Michael". The last name is the quick find search is, Michael Zogg. When I put "*Michael" in the Global Search, it is not returning all of the contacts that present themselves in the Quick find search on the Contact Entity. In the Global Search I could not see "Michael Zogg". He did not return in my results.

My question is, does Global Search have a cap on how many results it returns? And if it does is this something that can be increased? And if it can be increased, how is this done in the system?

    Hi,

    Please read below thread.

Mansoor, while this was a good blog, this did not answer my question. The question is, is there a limit to the number of results that "Global Search" produces? Again, if I am in my data base and do a "Quick Find" search in the "Contact" entity, it is returning me 130 results. When I do the same search in "Global Search" for the same name, it is only returning 80 results. I have tried a few examples and manually counted the "Global Search" returned results and get 80 results each time. Does "Global Search" have a cap at 80 returned results? Is there a way to change this?

    80 is the current cap.

Two possible reasons you might get different results between QF and GS:

1 - Quick Find is based on the single entity, and will return all applicable results.

2 - if you have Full Text Indexing enabled (system settings), that only applies to Global Search and can affect results.

3 - Global Quick Find is limited to 80 results.  See: community.dynamics.com/.../208929

    Hi,

There is a limit of maximum of 80 records per entity on the global search result page.

In order to remove this limits, navigate to Settings --> Administration --> System Settings. The following window appears.

Select No for Enable Quick Find record Limits under Set up Search.
