Is there a way to stop a process that is running?

Go to your task manager and stop the process. That's about all you can do, but would not at all recommend stopping posting unless it was a batch of 2 transactions and it's totally failed.
Nothing more valuable to add up, I just would like to add up that you can still stop the process on the SQL server level, which can be reached through the Activity Monitor on your database instance. Under "Processes", you can right click and "Kill Process".
Don't do this since this is gonna interrupt your posting and result with corrupted data on your GP among several tables.
