MPS wants to keep units in stock when we don't

Hi there,

when I run the MPS in Planning worksheets, it comes up with a suggestion that would leave us with a surplus of products in stock.

we have planned the assembly so that demand matches, and we end up with zero stock, but somehow MPS wants us to keep units?

where can i look up, why this suggested change in assemble quantity is there and how can i avoid this in the future?

Planning and replenishment for the item:

I have the same question (0)

for some assembly components it looks even worse, MRP suggests cancelling orders and that we have negative inventory:

    Hello,

From what I am seeing on the Item you are showing, you have the Reordering Policy = Order. This means that demand will come from Sales Orders or documents demanding the Item. How many Sales Orders do you have created with the Item you are assembling? This also looks at Forecast, if you are using one to define maintaining Stock for the Assembly Item. The Inventory Availability by Event is showing you had an Assembly Order that was created but based on Demand a change to 3 and then evaluating demand deleting that Assembly Order.

As for the MRP or purchased Items, I see the reduction quantities but not knowing what your Reordering Policy is for the components and if they have a Safety Stock I need more information to give a better answer as to why. If you can supply images and expand the Item you are showing in the MRP image.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve
