Using Routes with multi-insert moulds

Hello,
Our injection moulding department uses multiple inter-changeable inserts in some moulds that can mix and match in different configurations.  We have family moulds that run 4-10 different parts per shot.  I'm sure there are other companies with similar moulding practices.  How did you deal with the routes for those parts?

Currently our route costs are based on the full mould (for example: we have 10 different pieces running in 1 mould, so the route cost on each individual part is the machine rate divided by the total parts per shot (10)).  This is causing our schedule dates to be running short because it is calculating the schedule assuming that all 10 inserts that are running are the same piece.  Is there another way to cost routes so the schedule will be accurate?

Thank you!

Thank you both for your suggestions.  We are looking into each of them and seeing if we can make that work for us.

The closest you can get out of the box that I know if is job scheduling that operation by property.  You'll have to get creative with your process of managing the properties / inserts of a given resource.  This is from AX 2012, but the process hasnt changed in D365.  https://timsaxblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/02/production-scheduling-with-properties-in-ax-2012/

    Hi,
You can refer to this official documentation: Routes and operations - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft LearnThis article provides information about routes and operations. A route defines the process for producing a product or product variant. The two types of routes are simple routes and route networks. In the Production control parameters, you can specify whether only simple routes can be used, or whether the more complex route networks can be used.

    Best regards,
    Kevin
