Updating Accounts when Account not Regarding

Hi

I create a lot of call activities for the team to process but I have a bit of a challenge.

I would like the completion of a Phone Call to trigger updates to the account that the call was created against. Calls are created from within a campaign so, in the majority of cases, the "Regarding" entity is Campaign Activity rather than "Account". Given that this is the case, I can't get a workflow to trigger an update to the Account that the call was "To".

All I would like to achieve is:

If the call is completed by the Owner of the Account record then update "LastCalledDate" to the date the process runs

Anyone know if this is possible through workflows? If not, are there any other workarounds?

Regards

Dave

Or, if you want to try a no-code solution..

    - Create an account lookup on the campain activity

    - Create a workflow for campaign activity to set that account lookup from the regarding field (from the campaign activity->activity)

    - Create account lookup field on the phone call

    - And a workflow to update that lookup from the campaign activity

Then you can use that lookup in yet another workflow to finally set the date

    Hi Dave,

    you could proceed as follows:

    1) Create a plugin on PreUpdate message of phone call

    2) Inside plugin: retrieve campaign activity

    3) Query for campaign activity with customer field, where you will extract the Account

    4) Update LastCalledDate of the Account

    5) You are done!

Please let me know if you solve.
