Cannot Delete Opportunities

I had the same problem where the sales stages of opportunities disappeared after upgrading to CRM 2016.

I deactiviated the opportunity business process and reactivated it.  The stages came back.

The only problem now is that for the opportunities that were already there before when I try to change the sales stage an error message comes up saying:

Record Is Unavailable

The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it. If you contact support, please provide the technical details.

I am  however a system administrator although not the person who installed CRM.  I cannot move to a new sales stage in opportunities and when I try to delete the opportunity the same message comes up.

When I create a NEW opportunity however, after the deactivation and reactivation of the business process, there is no problem moving the sales stage on these new opportunities or deleting them. It is just on the old ones that I can neither delete them or move the sales stages. I can close them and do other things though like change dates etc...

Puzzle... Any ideas?

Have you tried reaching out to Microsoft? Resolutions might take weeks. I checked out the other thread that Prashant posted in the comments but there's no permanent solution available. :-(

Thanks for your concern, Carrie. Yes I did not see a solution in Prashant's thread either. Bit of a pain. :-(

Thanks, Prashant.  Unfortunately nothing that I can see in here to solve the problem.

    Hi Iskender,

Can you please turn on CRM trace and then share the log.

It might be some unsupported customization in previous org that is causing this issue. Trace log will be helpful in extracting more details.

Have you change the stages (create new or delete existing ones)? If that's the case, then there is a problem, because every record maintain its process id and stage id. Kindly update us about the outcome. Thanks.

Can create new opportunities, move stages and delete them

For old opportunities, cannot move stages and cannot delete them.

    Get this message:

    Record Is Unavailable

The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it. ...blablabla

    It's as if the process ID changed when I edited.  Then the opportunities using that process did not follow thus the message;
