CRM 2011 to 2013 Upgrade - Record is Unavailable

Having upgraded from CRM 2011 to 2013 we currently have the following error when logging in with all user accounts, including the System Administrator account that completed the original import.

"Record is Unavailable

The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it."

As far as I understand, there have been none / very minimal customizations to the CRM 2011 organisation which has now been imported.

We have a total of 4 organisations which have been exported via the DB and restored to the new database and then imported using the CRM Management tool. 3 worked first time, after reexporting and reimported multiple times we still face the above error attempting to view any page, including the dashboard homepage.

do any of your users have only custom security roles?

There are some new security privilges that users may need

check these blogs to see if this issue

RE: CRM 2011 to 2013 Upgrade - Record is Unavailable

There was a plugin used apparently on the 2011 instance that added 2 new roles, neither of which are applied to account I'm using at the moment which is the service account that upgraded CRM.

The error message isn't directly the same, their title is Insufficient Permissions, where as the error I have is:

This is the second restore and upgrade of this instance as the first backup was taken and restored with crucial data missing that was input after the backup had been taken. The first restore worked as expected, the second (which only had additional notes added to accounts) fails with the above.

    Hi Jay,

I can confirm that Ben's suggestion is correct and that the issue might be due to insufficient permissions.

I'd recommend you to go to all the custom entities and ensure that the documented in the below blog article

Permissions were applied (if not yet done community.dynamics.com/.../crm-2013-new-forms-insufficient-permissions.aspx

Does the problem occurs with the System Admin user as well?

Please let us know if this helps.

Thank you for using Microsoft Dynamics CRM Communities.

RE: CRM 2011 to 2013 Upgrade - Record is Unavailable

    Hi Jay -

I encountered this error as well when importing a 2011 UR16 Org into 2013 SP1 - it only happened when importing into SP1 and not when I had previously done this in UR2.

In my case I didn't see any further errors regarding security roles.

I saw a link of a similar issue with upgrades from CRM 4.0 to 2011.

Fix for me - rebooted the server.

    Hello Nina,

We get this same problem even with System Admin. All the permissions have been set according to the blog article and we still receive the error message

I would enable tracing on the crm server that will provide more information about the error and help you resolve the issue. As well check the event viewer in the crm server even that might provide some information on the error.

We receive reports on this error daily since we were upgraded to CRM2015 online 7.1.  The temporary solution that has been working most of the time is to clear the browser cache.  It doesn't always work and some times we have to clear the cache a few times.  It's a temporary solution because the error will come back.  Microsoft is aware of this issue and is working on this.   Again, our implementation is CRM Online but I thought I would share our experiences on this error.

Rebooting the server also worked for me.
