I just would like to know how it is normally done - ownership of AL source code.
When you work with your customer as a service provider and develop new features with AL, do you normally deliver the source code when the development is done?
It probably depends on the contract with the customer, but what is most common?
Agree, it depends by the contract and the nature of the app.
AppSource apps source code normally is not released to the customer, while for PTEs a contract can regulate them. But it's totally up to you :)
As you’ve said it is contract dependent. Given the target market business size for BC having the source code might be deemed as unnecessary anyway. If you of course leave the app.JSON property of showmycode as true then the customer has the option to download it at least. If the customer moves to another partner then the code can be accessed by a partner. I’d say that is fine providing the modifications are customer specific.
Use to a mixed bag scenario here so no one answer from me at least.
