Event KANBAN & Master Planning conflict

Hi all,

I have an item on Sales Order (SO) which has an active BOM and Route. One of the components within this BOM is set with line type 'pegged supply'. A 'BOM line' event kanban rule of type 'withdrawal' is setup for transfering this item from warehouse A to warehouse B when the Works Order (WO) is estimated. If a manual WO is created and estimated for the item on SO, the event KANBAN is correctly triggered. However, if master planning is used, a planned purchase order (PO) created instead of the KANBAN.

I do not want master planning to create a planned PO for the item, but want it to trigger the event kanban as it changes WO status from created to scheduled upon firming.

Has someone come across this issue and found a workaround?

Any poiners will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Amit

    Hi Amit,

Please check what are the Default order settings and the Item coverage setting for the component.

Is the Default order type of the component set to Kanban?

    Thank you,

    Adrian Serban

Hi Adrian, thanks for your reply.

The default order type is 'Purchase Order'. I was under impression that it can only be set to 'KANBAN' if scheduled KANBAN is used and not for event KANBAN.

Item coverage is set for purchase into the main warehouse that is supplying the kanban to the lineside warehouse.

As mentioned, the event KANBAN works a treat with above settings if the works order is created and estimated manually, but not when master planning is run.

Hope it helps, please let me know if you think my setting need to be changed?

    Thanks,

    Amit

    Hi Amit,

You could test with the Planned order type on the Item coverage set to "kanban".

I think that you are right and this will only work with scheduled kanban.

We did some tests and using an event kanban will give the error (while firming) "FirmingNumber: 00XXXX Item number: XXXXX Cannot firm 'Planned kanban'. A kanban rule with replenishment strategy 'Scheduled' was not found." that suggests Replenishment should be 'Scheduled'.

    Thank you,
