Inventory control with Microsoft Dynamics GP Tools

Dear reader,

I'm using Microsoft Dyanmics and I wish to add site ID's to my inventory stock. This way I wish to help my orderpickers to pick their orders faster.

Now when I want to print my picklist, I have to  manually add an location ID to every orderline, which takes a lot of time.

Is there a way I can asign a location ID to my product just once, so I wont have to add them in over and over again?

Thanks in advantage!

    Yes exactly.

Give it a try you will get the idea.

    Can I then give every product a location ID then, for example, A1, A2, A3, A4. B1, B2, B3, B4.

I think I know where you are at now.

    So go to Cards>>Inventory>>Quantities/Sites

There is a field to enter a Bin number, this is a shelf ID for the the item in this site.

To do this, enter the part number of the items, select the site you work with, then fill in the bin field.

This bin (shelf ID) is then bound with that part number and site. As mentioned above in a previous post, you can go one step further and add multiple bins, but from your post I'd say you may be better just trying single bins to start with, unless you have a need to keep inventory in multiple locations in your warehouse.

I have to declare that I never used the built in pick lists, as we have quite sophisticated needs and I wrote an alternative pick generation service. However I would expect this bin number field will then print against the item on the pick list when printed. If it is not, it should be possible to add that field to the pick report by modifying the report.

Try it for one item and I'm certain others will contribute to this thread who use default pick report.

    Tim,

    Hi Sjoerd

If you enable multi bin in Dynamics GP and your admin staff picks a bin when doing fulfillment, then you can print the locations on the picklist.

I mean, we wish to give our stock in the warehouse a location ID. So the order pickers can just check te ID, for example A1, so in the first row (A), number one.

Now, when we create an picklist, we must manually add the location ID every time we wish to print a picklist.

So is there a way that we can assign a location ID to a product, which can be saved so we don't have to insert the ID every time we print the list.

I hope I've clarified it good enough.

    Thanks in advantage

I thought I was following your description -then I got lost!

What is it that you are actually doing when you describe "I have to  manually add an location ID to every orderline, which takes a lot of time."? Do you mean you are manually writing the location id against the line on the pick list?

"Is there a way I can asign a location ID to my product just once," -In what way, what do you mean by assigning a location id? Can you clarify what you think of as a location ID. Bin location or site/location or something else?

    Tim.
