Counting serialised inventory

Trying to configure the mobile warehousing application for counting serialised inventory in a user friendly manner.

Currently when we setup cycle counting work for an Item that is serialised we get the following prompts for each single unit:

1) Enter Qty   (always will be 1)

2) Enter Item NUmber (the count has been created for a specific item number so don't want to enter this)

3) Enter Serial Number

4) Enter Qty (Again this is always 1 for serialised items)

Is there anyway to configure a menu item that allows you to process cycle count work so that all they do is enter the Work Id and then scan all serial numbers one by one without having to enter everything else over and over again??

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Dunko,

First option you might want to have a look at is the "Count total item quantity first" parameter that can be activated via the mobile device menu item. This option ensures that the user counts the total quantity first, and only if a difference is found the user is requested to scan the individual serial numbers.

However, if a discrepancy is found or if the company requires a complete count of the serial numbers you might want to consider applying the multi-scan functionality that Microsoft has introduced. More information about this can be found via the following blog post: https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/dynamics365/it/2018/12/20/customizing-the-warehouse-mobile-app-multi-scan-pages/

Although there are multiple advantages of applying this pattern, one of them is that you prevent the scenario that you have described before. Instead, the user will be able to scan multiple serial numbers in one go.

Please let us know whether this answer helps you.

    HI Dunko,

Yes it is possible to achieve the same.

Use system directed menu item with display values parameters enabled. This will make sure that worker is provided work on the mobile device automatically and is only required to scan serial numbers.

If needed serial numbers can also be displayed.

The user is still prompted to enter a quantity.
