Basic list/report: How to count number of contacts in an account?

I'm finding some very basic functionality, very difficult to implement, and am wondering if you would be able to point me in the direction of an answer. The answers on Google haven't helped me thus far.

I'm looking to create a list/report/anything of my empty accounts & similarly any way of displaying a record count of how many contacts are in an account. So I can sort by largest account to smallest account (in terms of number of contacts). Is this possible?

Please let me know if you can help. Thank you.

If you want to find out which accounts have 0 contacts you can only do that with Marketing Lists. What you do is create a marketing list for all accounts and then use an Advanced Query to remove all accounts that have a contact.  You can adjust the query to find out other things for example how many Accounts have no opt in contacts, in other words no contacts that are subscribed.

The query to remove accounts with a contact will look something like this

    Select

    Contacts (Company Name)

    Fullname contains data

I have not found a way inside of CRM to count the number of contacts. I really need to be able to do this!

There are 2 ways in which u can acheive the criteria you mentioned Through Charts

    & Through Report.

I'd seriously consider using a chart, and possibly putting it on a dashboard.

They give you counts & sums very easily, and you can drill down to the details.

It's quite cool what you can easily achieve with charts.

For what you'd want you could do a chart with a count of Contacts grouped by Account (based on their Parent Account / Company Name).

You could do top 10, bottom 10 charts etc.

In order to order the chart from top to bottom go to this website for more information:

Ulrik's website a great collection of all sorts of things you can do with charts.

Create report by choosing contact as primary record and in the view, group contacts by company and in the summary choose count. that will list all contacts grouped by account with contact counts in the grouping.

Is the CRM on Premesis? If it is, you can create a report on SQL Reporting Services and upload to CRM.

Please have a look on this:

    Hope it helps.
