Is there any way of placing Bin Location information into an inventory transfer?

Hi,

I'm currently using RMS 2.0 and I would like to be able to place Bin Location information on inter-store inventory transfers, when doing an inter-store transfer from our warehouse store to another location.

I know that i have to edit 'transfer.xsl' from within the POFormats folder, but as the format is quite different from the report files I really have no idea where to start. I do have access to an xml editor to make whatever changes are needed however.

Thank you in advance,

Bryan

    Bryan,

Altering this file will only change the export a Transfer to an Excel document functionality.  There is no way to define what mappings are being pushed down from HQ or with a transfer.  You would need some type of customization to the program to account for this.

Our solution was to add a trigger that copied the item.binlocation to the purchaseorderentry.ordernumber so it would show on the edit and issue screen, and then modified the ReceiptsTemplate\po.xml to add the OrderNumber to the printed report.

    Hi Matt,

can you give me a pointer on how you achieved this?

    Many thanks

    Hey Lance,

I've never created this trigger but I'd guess it would be something along the lines of updating PurchaseOrderEntry item description field to contain the bin location upon save/insert/update.  From there it would be visible on the PO (maybe more visible than you'd like) and also easily printable.  Lots of ways to accomplish this but there's a guess at it.

Be careful when it comes to database triggers and RMS, if you're not careful about how you create them they can interupt RMS's ability to pass database variables from one part of the process to another and you'll have some odd issues crop up.

    I hope that's helpful
