I'm not sure if it's the best solution, but when I find myself in this situation I just disable the old field and create a new one with the same caption where I want it. Another way od doing could be trough personalitzation of pages in roles ...

Yeah. You can’t drag a base group to the very top across containers with a page extension and I think its okay move the group if their is no customization involved but why don't you try personalization and check with customer if that helps

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Great question! In Dynamics 365 Business Central, when working with page extensions, you can reorder fields and controls, but repositioning entire groups to a different area (like moving a group to the top of the page) is limited by the structure of the base page.

    Here are your options:

    1. Using reorder in Page Extension

      • You can use the reorder keyword to change the order of fields within a group, but not to move a group to a different area.
    2. Using moveafter or movebefore

      • These can be used to reposition fields, but again, not entire groups across layout areas.
    3. Workaround: Hide and Recreate

      • One workaround is to hide the original group and recreate it in the desired position using a new group in the extension.
      • This requires duplicating the fields and ensuring they bind to the same source.
    4. Custom Page

      • If layout flexibility is critical, consider creating a custom page based on the original, where you have full control over group positioning.

Let me know if this helps, and please mark the response as helpful if it answered your question 😊

    Best regards!

You can’t move a base group to the very top of the page across different containers using a page extension. Within the same container you can reposition groups, but if the requirement is just layout, it’s often easier to use personalization so the customer can reorder what they need without customization. That way you avoid unnecessary development.
