Bulk update ownerid on account record?

I have a large number of accounts where I wish to change the userid. I understand you cannot simply export/change/then import as the it creates duplicate records (not sure if this is true?).

Using CRM 4 on premise.

Any ideas how to do this?

    Hi Nick,

Yep - select all the accounts then click on the 'assign' button.  This will then assign the accounts to the new user id you select.  You can do this in batches of 250 out of the box.

If you have a ton more accounts, here's an unsupported way of doing a bulk action to more than 250 accounts:
