Quality orders- Notify quality inspectors?

  1. Is it possible to send a notification to quality inspectors when the quality order is triggered after production is done to say they can commence with the inspection of items? Like, if I am producing an item, when I go to report as finished I have set up a quality association to trigger a quality order so inspectors can do the check and update the test results. Can the system be set up to notify them every time a quality order is triggered. Nothing fancy.
  2.  Is it also possible to set up the system to automatically populate the results(from quality order) after inspection is done when I go report as finished? If I produced 100 items and 34 failed the quality test, it would be dreadful to update the good qty & error quantity every time production is done/ its easy to forget.

    Quality orders- Notify quality inspectors?
“AI was used in this reply”.
Yes, both of your requirements can be achieved in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management (D365 SCM) through system configurations and automation. Here's how:

    1. Notify Quality Inspectors When a Quality Order is Triggered

You can configure alerts or workflows to notify inspectors when a Quality Order is created.

    Solution Steps:

    A. Configure Alerts for Quality Orders
    1. Navigate to: System administration > Alerts > Alert rules.
    2. Click New and set up an alert based on Quality orders.
    3. Select the "Created" event (this ensures that an alert is triggered whenever a new quality order is generated).
    4. In the recipient settings, assign it to quality inspectors (or a group).
    5. Configure the notification method (email, pop-up, or workflow).
    6. Save and activate the alert.
    B. Use Workflows for Automated Notifications
Alternatively, you can configure a workflow for quality orders:
    1. Go to: Quality management > Quality orders > Workflows.
    2. Create a new workflow for quality order processing.
    3. Add a notification step to send an automated email/message to inspectors.
    4. Assign it to the quality team or a specific role.
    5. Enable and activate the workflow.
💡 Now, every time a quality order is triggered, inspectors will get an automated alert or email to commence inspections.

    2. Auto-Populate the Good Quantity & Error Quantity After Inspection

You can automate this using the Quality Order Validation Process.

    Solution Steps:

    1. Enable Quality Management for Production
      • Go to Quality management setup and ensure "Quality management for production orders" is enabled.
    2. Use the "Copy Quality Order Results to Inventory" Feature
      • Navigate to: Quality management parameters
      • Enable "Automatically update inventory batch attributes from quality orders"
      • Enable "Copy quality order results to production reporting"
    3. Set Up the Quality Association (which you already have)
      • Link it to the Report as Finished process.
    4. Enable Automated Inventory Adjustments Based on Inspection
      • When inspectors enter test results and approve/reject quantities, the system will:
        • Automatically adjust the Good quantity and Error quantity in the Report as Finished screen.
        • Ensure rejected quantities do not get moved to available stock.
💡 Now, when you report as finished, the system will auto-populate the correct good and error quantities based on the quality inspection results.

    Final Outcome:

Inspectors get notified automatically when a Quality Order is triggered.
Good & error quantities auto-update in the "Report as Finished" screen after quality inspection.

Let me know if you need further configuration details! 🚀
