Price lists for parents accounts

Hi,

I have an issue with a customer request :

They have parent companies with groups of bill-to customers and associated child customers. The childs automatically benefit from the price list of the group (bill-to). If an item is not included in the group price list, the system should defaults to using the parent company's price list.

Is there a way to manage this natively in Business Central?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

No, this pricing fallback hierarchy is not supported natively in Business Central. Standard price calculation applies prices based on a fixed priority (customer > customer price group > all customers), and while child customers can inherit prices via Bill-to Customer or Customer Price Group, there is no standard mechanism to “fall back” to a parent company’s price list when an item is missing at the group level.
If a price is not found for the bill-to group, Business Central simply moves to the next global level (for example, All Customers), not another specific customer’s price list. Achieving the behavior you describe requires either duplicating prices across groups, restructuring pricing so the parent prices live at a lower-priority but broader level, or implementing customization to override the standard price lookup logic.

    Hello,

Business Central doesn’t support this natively. You can inherit prices from a Bill-to Customer or a Customer Price Group, but pricing does not cascade beyond one level—so if an item isn’t found on the Bill-to/group price list, BC will not fall back to a parent company price list. To achieve Child → Group → Parent logic, you must either duplicate prices, simplify the structure using price groups only, or implement a small customization (most common).

    Hi,

Yes it is possible in with following conditions.

    1. In case where group price list does not have defined any price it will take it from parent price list.
    2. In case Group price list and Parent price list both has record then it will take the least/best price to customer.

You can do it by setting up following.
    1. Prepare a parent price list which I think should have every Item prices.
    2. Prepare Group price list with Customer group to specify specific prices for the customers in those groups.

Check and let me know. Also let me know if I misunderstood the requirement.
