record restriction for items does not work

Hi all,

maybe I have wrong expectations. I setup an item approval workflow. In this workflow a record restriction is set. I can see this in the list of restricted items. 

I mentioned, that if a item is restricted I can not use them in sales lines or production orders, but in realty I can do everything. Unfortunately I found nothing on learn.microsoft about this topic. What happen when an item is restricted? Same question is for customers and vendors.

    Hi

    Actually, even if the record (vendor, customer or an item) is under restriction, BC will let you include it in an order or any document.

    However, the blocking occurs at the moment you post that document.

    Hi, just adding some info.

    If you want to prevent users from using it, some small customizations are required. For example, when an Item is created, it defaults to the Block state, and the Block will be released after the approval is completed.

    Hope this gives you some hints too.
