Canada: What EDC solutions are available to integrate with RMS?

Hi,

My company has recently become a partner and we are reselling Microsoft RMS product in Montreal Quebec.

I was curious whether anyone here knows what payment processing solutions (EDC) are available for integration in Canada? The ones our clients most commonly use are Desjardins Merchant Services, Global Payments, Chase Paymentech, TD and Mercury Payments.

Have any of you successfully integrated any of these systems with RMS? I dont want to promise a client anything before I know a real answer to their question.

Any help and guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you

Jakub

I know that Mercury Payments does EDC in the US not sure about Canada.  As far as Global, Mercury uses Global as their processor so if Mercury can do it I don't see why Global wouldn't be able.

    not sure about the others.

I have a several customers on Mercury and they like it.  Especially the gift card addon.

Not sure if this has been answered.  We use TD Integrated Pin Pads and 24 of our stores that are running RMS. moneris also has a plug-in but the last time I checked it was NOT supported for 64bit versions of Windows. Hope this helps.  Cheers, Craig

    Jakub,

Were you able to integrate RMS with Desjardins?

Presently everyone we've installed has been going with standalone processing. I just wanted to have all of my bases covered if someone were to request it.

It would be nice to have more solid support for this to be honest.

FYI. Here's a link to the bridge software we use for integration with TD Merchant services.

One nice aspect of using TD is that they pay for the bridge licensing to Tri-City. None of the integration costs, other than the usual merchant processing fees, are passed onto our head office or our franchisees.

Moneris does have a 64 bit version now.  However, if you use ANY other add-on with RMS I wouldn't recommend it.  There are 10 session variables for the POS and the Moneris integration uses ALL 10 to print the receipt.  We tried hijacking one to use for another add-on and it was a total bust.  We had to pull it out after only a couple of days.

I agree with RMS Goddess.. We installed 64 bit Moneris and ran a demo store for testing. It did not go well... manual service starts, batchfile etc. One other point, you are on your own for installation. This was ok for us because we have an IT department for our franchise chain but if you are a single store or smaller number of stores installing and maintaining could become an issue.

We worked with Moneris for several weeks with limited success.  After a few weeks we were put in touch with their developer team and they worked intimately with us but stated that their software was not maintained as they had outsourced it and the developer folded.  This left their software with many bugs and they were trying to patch it but were unable to guarantee for it to work.  Ultimately they were able to get it working but with limitations on returns, split transactions and no customization of the receipt.  Although we don't believe that the receipt could not be customized, we switched to a stand alone unit as the software posed too much of a risk.

Tri-city's integration was highly recommended by Chase and TD, however at this time we will continue to go with Moneris until we change banks or move to Chase.

Global is distributed through a third-party in Canada who did not have integration available and Mercury is not a Canadian solution.

Chase or TD RMS Goddess stated.  If you're going to do it, go with a good partner!
