Hello everyone,
I have added a custom Post & Print action to the Warehouse Insight menu. however when I click on the action, nothing happens i suspect that it requires an event or handler to be assigned, but I am unsure how or where to configure this.
Could anyone please provide guidance on how to correctly link this action to the appropriate event or process so that it functions as expected?
Additionally, we would like to have this Post & Print functionality available on the PDA devices any instructions or recommendations for enabling this feature on mobile would be greatly appreciated.

    Can you please let me know if you have worked Insightwork team or did custom code your self. I would suggest reviewing the code with Insight work team.
     
    In BC, create a codeunit with an OnRun Event listener or subscriber for that Event ID — typically via the Run Event block

    Hi,

    When a custom Post & Print action doesn’t respond, it’s usually because the button isn’t wired to a valid event or report handler in Warehouse Insight’s configuration. Insight Works doesn’t auto-bind custom actions, so you’ll need to explicitly link the action to a report or process via the Report Selection and Device Configuration pages.

    Here’s how to get it working:

    • First, go to the Insight Works Report Selection page in BC. Create a new entry with your custom report ID, set the usage (e.g., “Warehouse Document”), and define the printer type.
    • Then, open the Device Configuration for your PDA. Under the General FastTab, make sure the Printer Name matches the one registered in the PrintNode Printers page. This ensures the handheld knows where to route the print job.
    • On the PDA, reload the config via the menu (☰ → Reload Config) to apply the changes. If the action still doesn’t trigger, check whether the menu item is linked to a valid Menu Action Code that corresponds to your report or posting logic.
    • For mobile enablement, remember that Warehouse Insight doesn’t print directly from handhelds — it passes the request to BC, which then uses PrintNode or BC’s standard print queue to execute the job. So make sure PrintNode is running and the API key is configured in BC.

    The Post & Print action likely isn’t linked to any process yet. You need to assign it to a report or custom codeunit in the WMS Menu Designer and make sure it’s available in the PDA layout.

     

    Insight Works WMS is not a standard BC feature, so it’s best to contact your partner or Insight Works for help with setup.

    I recommend to perform the query with the partener in order to perform the correct validation, since Insight Works WMS does not come as part of the Business Central standard.
