If you change the Company name in GP, do you need to change the comapny name in FRx and MR or will this be done automatically? How do you do that?

Yes, you'll need to change the company name in FRx and (I believe MR). Are you using both FRx and MR?
FRx and MR will both be used. But in MR, if you go to Company > Companies and click on Modify, it doesn't look like you can change the Company Name? Where do go to update the FRx company name?
To change the company name in FRx go to Company >> Information and then change the name in the Company Name field.
As far as MR is concerned once you change the company name in GP you might have to reimport just that company.
How do you reimport a company? Thanks!
Reimporting a company is done through the Management Reporter Configuration Console done on the server. I confirmed a reimport of the company is needed for MR to recognize a changed company name:
"Changes to the company name need to be synced with Management Reporter. If you would like to change the company name, then update it in Dynamics ERP and then re-import into Management Reporter."
Thanks for validating Sean! I do have a couple of extra questions to ask, just to be safe! They are, should we be making a "backup" somehow of MR before these reimports? And if so, how is that done and is it even possible. And, if you're reimporting an existing company, are there any concerns with overwriting data (if it is only the company name/description that are being changed). So if I have reports that use the Company Name / Description, the report should still load OK?
What version of Dynamics GP and MR are you currently using? MR 2012 had a change to it where they added a DataMart (DDM in SQL Server).
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, I would recommend making a backup before doing anything. If you're using GP2013 and MR 2012 then you'll want to backup the DDM and ManagementReporter databases. If you're a different version of MR then you'll backup just the ManagementReporter database. All of this is done in SQL server.
2. I don't suspect there would be any concerns with overwriting data simply because all you're changing is the company name. Do I take you mean data as over-writing the building blocks (rows, columns)?
2. Yes, the building blocks that use Company Name/Description
I don't think there would be cause for concern only because you're just re-importing the company. If you were going to re-run the import wizard for FRx, then there would be, otherwise I think you'll be fine.
