Cash Receipt Versus Bank Deposit

Hi:

As long as the Bank Account is entered as the "Balance Account Type" within the Cash Receipt Journal for entering and posting a customer payment, does the Bank Deposit window ever need to be used?

Along those lines, what is the Bank Deposit window used for?  Again, as long as you post to the bank in the Cash Receipt Journal, why would you need to use the Bank Deposit window?

Thanks!

John

    Hello,

I assume this is related to specific country localization? As I am from EMEA, I am not sure where to find this Bank Desposit window. Do you have a scenario or scenario you can share.

Hopefully others in this great forum will be able to assist.

    Thanks.

    John,

To answer your question, no you do not have to use the Deposit page if you are using the Cash Receipt Journal or Receive Customer Payments page.

The Deposit page is used to create a single Deposit being posted against the Bank. Think of a Deposit Slip with a lot of payments and you want a single page to record all the payments and see the total Deposit on the Header.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Hi Steve, hoping you can assist -- we recently changed over to BC and have been exploring our different options. When we posted our first deposit it posted as individual lines for each check -- based on your assessment above (and what I would have expected) it should have posted as one transaction -- do you happen to know if there is potentially a setup we're missing on our end?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This specific issue of posting the individual checks is solved in the new release of BC that is coming out or has been released in April version 2022 wave 1
