Full name on new entity in 2013

I have created a new entity called "Students" as I need to treat Students separately to Contacts. In the student entity you have first, middle and surname. however when I then place a sub grid on a different entity (qualifications) to lookup the full student name, there is no way to set the field to show the "full name" as you can in Contacts, I can only link it to Surname. Is there any way round this?

    Lookup field will show only primary field value of the record.  In order to get fullname while creating student record concatenate first and last name and set that value  in the name field  (name is theprimary field By dafault ). Create real time workflow to concatenate first name and last name and set this value to the name field.

    Hi there,

    Here is what I would do.

    When you create the Student entity, rename the primary field to be called Full Name. Next, create a First Name field and a Last Name field.

    Now what you do is a workflow for the student entity to be triggered when a record is created and when the firstname field and/or the lastname field changes. This workflow concatenates the values of firstname + space + lastname on the fullname field.

    I would hide the fullname field from the form, and I would also ensure that the workflow has no logs saves.

    Alternatively you could do a plugin.
