data migration utility question

Hello, I'm trying to use the data migration utility in the crm 2013 sdk to migrate data from 1 environment to another. I'm able to connect to the source data environment, generate the schema and get the data. However, I'm having problems connecting to the target machine to import the data.

I'm running the data migration utility from the target machine. When I run the tool, the wizard takes me to the step displayed in the screenshot. However the StatusWindow dialog displays forever, simply stating "Initializing 1 of 5 connection threads":

Any idea why the program might be locking up like this? Have you experienced this before? Any idea how to get this program to the next step so I can import the data?

    I have used this tool very successfully but in my case I was connecting to 2 online orgs. Have you tried running the tool from a local machine rather than on the server? You could always try using fiddler to see if there are any errors happening in the background to give you more of a clue.

    I had the same thing. I just made sure that I had run the Migration tool as Administrator and set it to use AD rather than IFD on my last attempt and it passed this screen without getting stuck so it was one of those two things.

    Hi Andrew,


    I received the error due to the folder and files being read-only. Make sure to set them to read/write.

    This fixed the error for me.

    4 years later and I just hit the same issue, stuck on 'connecting 1 of 5 threads' just when running for import data. Setting the host folder to read/write worked, cheers Barry!

    Hi,

    If you face any problem it will get stuck on screen. Run application as administrator and also give permission to folders and files.
