Error prepayment inv. line buffer does not exist

When we try to create a pre-payment invoice from a sales order, we get this error:

We worked out it is somehow related to this rounding setting in the General Ledger Setup (e.g. changing from 0.05 to 0.02 resulted in successful invoice creation) but don't know what's going on:
