Migrating Dynamics CRM 2011 database to another server

What process can I use to tell CRM 2011 that the database resides on a new server once I restore the database to another server?

    The CRM 2011 Implementation Guide (download here) provides detailed steps. Broadly, you will need to:

    • Install CRM on a test server
    • Take a backup of your CRM database
    • Restore the database backup to your test server
    • Use the CRM Deployment Wizard to redeploy the CRM database as a new CRM organization

    (Since you are redploying CRM onto a different domain, you'll also have to have a DR solution for managing user accounts in your second domain).
