Contact Merge Ownership

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

I have an instance that I'm not understanding and having trouble finding an answer.

I have 2 Contacts I merge with 2 different owning teams, for instance:

Contact1 has a team owner of "Austin"

Contact2 has a team owner of "Fort Worth"

Each team has it's own Business Unit, respectively. The Team security role, (and the security roles specific to the user) are all set to BU or User for the permissions.

As a system administrator, I merge the 2 Contacts and select to keep Contact1 the master record and Contact2 is deactivated. So far so good.

When the user logs in who belongs to the "Fort Worth" team, the user can see Contact1. Even though the Contacts owner is "Austin".

As I understand it, the user in question should NOT see Contact1 since it's outside of the assigned Team and Business Unit. Any help appreciated.

It looks like a hidden share is created (i found this using the "Search data in PrincipalObjectAccess(POA)" Plugin for XrmToolbox. Is this a bug or by design? Is there a way to cancel this share with a plugin?

    Hello,

I don't think this is a bug. I believe it's related to "Share record with previous owner" functionality - www.crminnovation.com/.../assigning-records-to-new-owners-what-happens-to-the-old-owner

    That's already set to "No"

In this case I can recommend only to get in touch with Microsoft and open a support ticket.
