Hi Erik
To add to what Andre mentioned, on enabling "Use warehouse management processes" = Yes the items linked to the storage dimension group are considered as WMS controlled items. For purchase orders, sales orders etc. the transactions will require WMS-specific processes (work order creations, mobile device steps) if the warehouse is WMS-enabled.
Limitations, based on past observations:
1. On manually posting product receipts or packing slips, the system may by-pass WMS steps, but it is not the best practice (as per recommendations) for WMS-enabled warehouse.
2. Can't reverse the settings i.e. can't run off the WMS flag for the storage dimension group once enabled and once we have transactions nor we can migrate items. Need to create a new storage dimension group in this case. Also, on enablement WMS Operations become mandatory for operational tasks.
3. Operationally, transactions like purchase order receipts, sales order picking need to follow WMS processes (work creation, mobile device confirmations) in WMS enabled warehouses.
4. Cannot use movement or inventory transfer journals directly without WMS work steps completion in WMS-enabled warehouses.
Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.
