There's a table DTA00100 and a DTA amount field in the database.
What are these in practical finance/accounting terms?

DTA is the acronym for Dynamic Transaction Analysis, which later on became known as the Multi-Dimensional Analysis (MDA) module. MDA was later on replaced by Analytical Accounting, but get this... MDA still works and is fully integrated with FRx.
The DTA00100 table is the Analysis Group Master table and is the equivalent of the Transaction Dimensions in Analytical Accounting. A transaction dimension - or an Analysis Group in the case of MDA - is any criterion you want to define to analyze, i.e., cost centers, departments, or sales regions, etc. As you can already tell, it saves you from having to define these as a segment within your chart of accounts, especially when you have the need to create financials that analyze various aspects of your business.
