Screenshots within fields

Is it possible to paste a screenshot in a field within CRM? For example, the Case form has a field for the Description.  We want our users to able to copy and paste a screenshot directly into that field and NOT have to attach it to a Case via a word document.

Out of the box this isn't going to be possible. Behind the scenes in the database - the standard fields won't support an image - this the need to attach to a Note.

The trick is finding something that supports cut and paste - you could always save the screenshot to a file and bypass MS Word.

Thanks Jason!  We don't want to have to use MS Word or any other file type.

    Hi there!

This tool will allow you to put images onto a record, but it requires users to click and drag the image onto the screen.

Thanks Gretchen!  I inserted the webresource but the field isn't active (allowing me to drag and drop an image). Any ideas on why it isn't working?

    Hi there!

When you inserted the web resource, did you have the box checked for Pass record object-type code and unique identifier as parameters?

Yes and it still isn't working.

I am using a trial version to test it.  Should l just try it with our production data?  It won't harm anything will it?

Actually, it should work in a trial, but that made me realize that you are probably trying to add it to the new process forms, and it does not work on those.  You can try the classic forms, but you are probably planning to use the process forms?

I noticed that the trial version looks a lot different than the on premise that we currently have - the forms look different.  Should I import the solution into our on premise version (2011) and see if it works that way?  I am a little hesistant with trying to do that, should I be?

I don't think it's a problem putting into production--the solution is designed to be easily removed.  You need a security role to see it.  The only thing is it may add a PowerPack menu bar to the left navigation (see your trial for example).

You can also create a *copy* of the case form and add the photo there so users do not see it.

You can also reach out to PowerObjects directly if you have any questions on the functionality--we have a PowerPack pro, Cecilie, who is an expert.  She answers questions and also takes requests for new features.
