Are OptionCaptions or OptionStrings Stored In Navision Database?

Using Navision 2018

We are building a pipeline that draws from the Navision database directly. There are several fields that contain single digits (0,1,2,...), which we've learned correspond to OptionCaptions. Our question is whether there is anywhere in the Navision database that stores these OptionCaptions? How are these maintained?

We would love to be able to pull the values of the OptionCaption at any given point in time.

Hi,

Yes OptionStrings are also stored in NAV database but they are stored in Object Metadata table and are not very easy to decode. If you need those option values from NAV in an external system it is better to have a translation/middle table where you can setup that if option value is 1 then it means Customer 2 means G/L Account etc for table xx.

Thank you for the quick response Bilal. I think we're closer to solving this. Are you sure that it would the the "Object Metadata" table? We know that there are OptionCaptions, but this table is empty. Is there anywhere else where they could be?

Hi,

Yes it is. Make sure you are running query in a database where there are company tables as well. If it still not shows you can try to restart service and try again.

My metadata object table gives me around 6 thousand rows.
