3rd Party Cookies

When is Microsoft going to remove the need for 3rd party cookies?  This is turning into a nightmare for larger deployments, and given that they have been so widely abused, I'm amazed that MSFT is still relying on this old and flawed technology?

    Hi Nya,

I think this idea was posted in the great interwebs forum a long time ago.  It's time for MSFT to pull it's finger out...

    Hi Steve,

You can post your proposal in Ideas forum in order to drive it to be improved.

    RE: 3rd Party Cookies

I am not familiar with the cookies requested to guest AAD users, I assume they belong to some microsoft domains that are not connected to the dynamics instance (like login.microsoftonline.com in order to get the auth token if required).

I believe that with some registry policy you can actually allow or block specific domains but I am not aware of a page where such domains are listed (I remember there was a page for ADFS and IFD settings but that is not your case).

If Google Chrome will stop 3rd party cookies by a certain date, because Google Chrome is one of the supported browsers by Dynamics, Microsoft will fix this before that date, I think that opening a support ticket will get you nowhere regarding this, the only thing you can do in my opinion is to describe your problem in this website

experience.dynamics.com/.../ to help to improve the product.

    RE: 3rd Party Cookies

    Hi,

We're running a model driven app based on D365 CE - in private windows in Firefox and Safari it is asking to accept all 3rd party cookies at the point of authentication.

Our use case is such that the majority (vast) of our users of the browser MDA (not portal) are guest users in our AAD.  Many of them have IT departments that have policies that (rightly) block cross-site/3rd party cookies.  As you know, these have been abused mostly by Adtech for tracking and other pretty sleazy uses.  Google flagged in 2018 that they were phasing them out of Chrome by 2022 (now 2023).  What's MSFT going to do then?  The specific cookies in D365 are, I'm sure, quite acceptable - but the use of 3rd party cookie technology is something that's been pretty widely deprecated for several years now.  I am sure there are better mechanisms for storing session state or whatever it is that MSFT is doing with the cookies...

    RE: 3rd Party Cookies

can you provide some examples of 3rd party cookies that are causing you an issue?

Dynamics 365 products (except for Power Apps Portals) are not public facing websites, so I don't understand your "abuse" point but maybe you have other experiences.
