Rapid Tool is Good to Migrate for any other ERP to Dynamics GP ERP ?

Hi All ,

I am new in GP implementation and we move from another ERP to Dynamics GP ERP, so  i read the documentation for Rapid Implementation tool for migrating data from an existing system to GP. My company does not use Peach Tree or Quick Book so I suppose the only option left for me is the Excel Template. Can anyone tell more details about how to migrate data using Excel Template ? Do we have to manually enter the data into the Excel Template in order to migrate data into GP ?  Also , what should we run first the Rapid Migration tool or the configuration tool after installing GP and please could you know any another tools for migration for GP ?

Thanks !

Govind Devda

With regard to migration, Are you planning to move master data along with transactions?  You can also use Integration Manager or econnect.   Econnect requires the programming skills. Integration Manager is very simple to use.  For more information you can refer the whitepaper in this link. www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Thanks Arunprasath but we move complete ERP to new GP ERP implement, so we need migration with all company setups like Accounts, Shipping Methods , Taxes , all company rules & regulations with all masters , transactions , as well as all reports etc.

So Rapid migration tool is good for me or not ? or is any other tools available.

    Thanks!

You have not named your current legacy system. What is your current ERP system?

If your legacy system is not supported by Rapid Migration/Configuration Tool, then exporting data onto Excel is the only option. As Arun mentioned, Integration Manager is probably the straightforward choice.

Some data needs to be integrated directly onto GP tables, those that are supported by Integration Manager yet. You may use GP Table Import option to achieve that.

Exporting data from your legacy system would be the main focus area. Once you have data exported onto Excel or Tab Delimited File, it's quite easy to import back to GP.

    Govind,

What is your current ERP system?

Integration Manager is good tool to import your master and transaction level data to GP. But, you can not import Setup details like Accounts, Shipping Methods , Taxes, etc.,

Rapid Migration Tool, you can import your master, transaction and setup details to GP from peach tree, quickbooks & excel templates. But, you can not import historical transactions.

Better, you can use Rapid tool to import your master, setup and open transactions to GP. Then use Integration Manager to import the historical data.

Note: If you don't want the historical transaction, just use Rapid tool And upload the opening balances by using IM.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Govind,

You can use Rapid tool to migrate/integrate below 3 type of financial data into GP.

    1. Master Records: Accounts (including opening balances), Customers, Vendors, Items, Employees

    2. Open Transactions*: Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Payables, Receivables, Inventory (including inventory levels)

    3. Configuration Settings: Company Address, Customer Type, Payment Terms, Shipping Methods, Sales Tax, Vendor Type, Fiscal Years.

I have done the migration from Quickbooks to GP with using Rapid Tool about 2 years back. Pleas have a look on the below links. You will get better idea about the same.
