External warehouse and main warehouse in MRP

Hi,

We rent an external warehouse and the goods go back and forth. Most of the items come to main warehouse (on our site) for inspection and after that go to external warehouse and when it is time come back to our site for the production. We didn't set up the external warehouse in D365 - it exists as location under main warehouse. I am going to set up this as a warehouse in D365. Any good advices ? Is it possible to make MRP looks into on-hand taken together (main warehouse + external) in order to generate PO’s for instance?

    If you set up the location as warehouse you shouldn't have any issues with main funcionalities (  MRP, etc).

    Thank you for your answer. We have warehouse as location right now, but we will have this warehouse as separate warehouse in D365. My question is: are there any function/set up that allow MRP look into summarize on hand inventory (from both warehouses) in order to for example create purchase orders ?

    There are several possibilities, for example you can group warehouses under a single site and make Planning at site level.

    In the item coverage settings we need to leave warehouse blank, fill only site and if it's Min/Max then define Min and Max values.
