Inventory Wizard

ReportReport
Posted on by 90

We use Inventory Wizard in Manager to change item quantities. We add the items manually during this process. In the item movement history for the item it would show the change and list the type as "quick assist". Starting about 3 months ago it stopped listing the change in the item movement history report. The Wizard still changes the actual quantity but there is no record of it in the hostory. This started happening around the time we added Feature Pack 1. We also upgraded SQL from 2005 to 2008. Anyone else have this issue? Current Version is RMS 2.0.0150. Thanks, Tom.

    Tom,

Is it showing anything in the movement report?  Say a line but no movement type?

No, nothing at all.  It does correctly adjust the quantity but there is no entry for how the quantity was changed.

Have you tried installing RMS 2.0 SP4?  This is a recent release that addresses many of the problems introduced by FP1.  It should be available on CustomerSource in early May, otherwise you can speak with your RMS Partner to obtain it now.

Sorry for the delay.  We were dealing with a receipt printer issue over the last couple of days and I also wanted to get SP1 installed for Windows 7 first.  I installed SP4 this morning and it didn't fix the problem.  It still changes the quantity on the inventory tab of the "item properties" but it does not make the adjustment on the "Item Movement History Report".  In fact, at the top of the movement report there is a bold line that says "Overall" and then lists a total quantity to the right.  I just adjusted an item from 16 on hand to 5 on hand.  The inventory tab correctly shows 5 but the item movement report still shows 16.  This is how it was before SP4 was installed as well.  So, no extra line showing the reduction and the overall quantity is also incorrect in the movement history.

Sadly Tom, the only further advice I'd have for you then is to start a support incident with MS.  I know they can be a pain, but I also do know they are working on some updates to SP4 already, so if you can get this to them sooner rather than later, they may be able to get working on it.

Yeah, I might try that if I have some time to spend with them.  Unfortunately I have yet to get a resolution to any problems over the last 4 years whenever I have tried using their support.  The last time consisted of hours of my time and then having them close my case without fixing the problem, stating they had technically resolved my issues by moving my database.  The only problem was that the database could not be accessed and so was no use to me.  They did say I could start a NEW incident if I wanted to, this time addressing access to the database.    :)

    I appreciate your efforts.

    Best,

    Tom.

    Tom,

Were you using a customized or the "fixed" version from CustomerSource of the Item Movement History report before the FP1 upgrade?

FP1 overwrote that report with the old non-fixed version.  Its dated 6/7/10 along with about 15 others.

You can find the "fixed" version here in CustomerSource. http://tinyurl.com/42qqo

We were using whatever version would have come with our original POS purchase back in 2007.  I don't recall any later upgrades, other than service packs.  I broke down and started a support incident with Microsoft but, if they have nothing for me, this looks promising.  From the link you sent me, I would guess this one (Report - Item Movement History with InventoryTransferLog.Type 11 Added) sounds the closest to what I may need.  Thank you for the suggestion.

The modified reports didn't work but Microsoft has now confirmed that this is a bug and they will be issuing a hotfix for it.  They also say there will be a refresh of SP4 in May that should fix the issue.  Thanks for all the help!

    Best,

    Tom.
