CRM Online vs Dynamics 365

Hi,

I am new to Dynamics CRM.

I would like to know if the customer asked about to deploy a CRM online to Azure, what will be the deployment option? Still a bit confused about the term between CRM online and Dynamics 365 for Sales, are they the same thing basically?

What will be difference if I deploy CRM via LCS and install the CRM 2016 directly on an Azure VM?

Thanks,

For now it's very simple. At his point in time the business edition is not yet available. It was introduced as a concept last week, but live yet. It see they offer pricing on the website, but you can't buy it as far as I know.

There is also the question of Dynamics 365, Business edition vs Dynamics 365, Enterprise edition.  How can you determine which version is being run?  What are the differences?

    Hi

Has this issue been resolved? If not, then I would like to recommend using Tenfold to integrate with your Office 365 with over 150 phone systems . Its really easy and will only take a few minutes to set up. They also support MS Dynamics integration. Here's the link if your interested www.tenfold.com/.../dynamics

When you need to choos between online vs onpremises / self hosted, I would always choose online, unless you have arguments to go for onpremises.

Microsofts focus is on online, and there you will get the best value for money in my opinion.

    Thanks Prashant,

So the recommendation is always use Dynamics 365 online deployment via LCS rather than we upload the installation media and install on Azure VM?

Yes, its same in terms of a product but there are several add ons and feature which would be missing in on-premise model. I have provided you with a link, check that to know more about what's missing. www.microsoft.com/.../dynamics-365-online-vs-on-premises-features-faq.aspx

    Hi Martijn

So dynamics 365 is same as onpremises installation. Even though I have created dynamics 365 from portal.office.com.

RE: CRM Online vs Dynamics 365

Dynamics365 is the new umbrella label for CRM. The functionality is the same, but is now split up in different parts, like sales, service, marketing etc.  Most of these parts, except the ERP ones, were part of CRM. So for now it's mainly a marketing and branding solution, but for the long term is a new way of looking at the different function areas.

The difference between CRM online / Dynamics365 and an instance of CRM in an azure VM is that the first one is a SAAS offering by Microsoft, that does als the updates and maintenance for you. The latter is hosted and controlled by you. You are responsible for the updates, the same as you would be for an onpremises installation. There's also a difference in licensing. Online is subscription based, and with onpremises you buy a license.
