I can not get FederationMetadata.xml

Hi there, I am totally desperate. I need federation metadata for enabling claim authentication for our Dynamics CRM deployment so it can be Internet facing.

When I am runing this claim authentication wizzard, in one step it wants federation metadata url. So i run some research and found that I need AD FS service, (in version 2.0, after one day of trying with 1.0 native in W2008R2).

So I have version of AD FS 2.0 installed, I have followed this step-by-step : http://blogs.objectsharp.com/cs/blogs/steve/archive/2010/08/14/installing-adfs-2-and-federating-an-application.aspx and it was succesfull... almost.

Whan I am trying to test my Realying party´s fedeation metadata, it doesnt works... and I cannot even find the federationmetadata.xml file... I thing that even url https://nameofserver/FederationMetadata/2007-06/FederationMetadata.xml should work, isnt it?.

Maybe there could be trouble that I am running it in a SBS network so I want to use port 888 here instead of 443 which is used by some services in SBS...?

What am I doing wrong?

    HI Jan,

ADFS is certaily not a trivial item to install and configure.  So here are my recommendations:

--if your SBS already has something running on port 443, install ADFS on a different port.

--If you already installed ADFS, don't just change the port.  There are additional steps required.  It is easier to remove it, re-install it and configure it on the correct port right away.

--Purchase a wild card ssl cert - it will make life much easier in setting up crm and adfs

Hallo, thanks - it is definitely not trivial :)

Even uninstal... I did not find this AD FS 2.0 in win server components (roles and functions) and I did not find any uninstall icon, program etc. ... that not right, isnt it?

    Hi Jan,

ADFS 2.0 needs to be downloaded from here:

You can uninstall by going to programs and features View installed updates and then click on uninstall.
