Move security groups to new OU

My Domain Admins are going through an AD redesign and need to move the CRM security groups to a new OU.

Are there any gatchas to keep in mind with the OU move?

Do I need to run a repair of CRM to map to the new OU?

I've tested with a DEV environment and haven't noticed any impact of the OU move for those security groups.

Thanks!

I recently moved the existing OU for my on-premise Dev and Production environments because of the AD redesign and did not have any issues.

In my knowledge OU is required only to keep things organized for each CRM deployment. Each group created under the CRM OU have the deployment guid appended to the group name so even if you use a single OU the group names would be unique anyway.

I will still recommend you to first try moving the groups for your test environment into the new OU to see how it goes.

Have a look at the following links.

    Hi Kashif.

I have already tested with 2 DEV and 1 QA deployment, I'm on-prem as well, and I have not seen any issues with moving the security groups to a new OU.

    Thanks for the reply!

    Hi,

I read that there is no impact by renaming or moving the AD OU.

My question is do we need to do something on CRM after renaming the AD OU or moving to a new AD OU ? Restart service ? Validate some parameters on CRM deployment manager ?

    Thanks for your reply
