RM - Cash Applied to Wrong Account

I know that using the RM Transaction Unapply Tool we can unapply a payment that has been posted to a customer. But suppose we posted the payment to the wrong customer account. After using the RM transaction Unapply tool, the payment is still associated with the wrong customer account number. My question is how then do we undo that association and apply the payment to the correct account number?

Hi,

You need to void the payment and re enter it to correct customer then apply the same.

Nothing more valuable than what's mentioned by Babu, you simply can't change the customer after posting the cash receipt. Voiding is the solution

Babu is right, the typical way to fix this would be to void the original cash receipt and re-enter it. However, sometimes, you find this after many months and you might want to leave the transaction as is.

Another option to correct this would be to enter a debit memo to the 'wrong' customer and a credit memo to the 'right' customer. This would basically 'move' the payment from one customer to another.
