sample excel templates/examplars for inital rapid deployment of GP

I keep hearing of excel templates that can be completed during the requirements gathering and imported into GP as an inital set up for rapid deployment

If they exist could someone point me at them please

What is the quickest way to inhibit large tranches of functionality that are not needed in "lite" deployments please

Grateful for any help as this is my first experience of GP

Michael

These fall into the Rapid Migration Tools:

It would be pretty difficult to determine what is a "lite" deployment as this will be considerably different for any organization.  Generally I would consider use of Financial, Payables Management (no Purchase Orders), and Receivables Management (no Inventory) to be a fairly "lite" deployment.

Thank you very much Mike, I will get our techies on it first thing in the morning.

GP  seems to have a CRM integral to it, but our customer is looking to use Dynamics CRM as a supporting product, it this based on capacity issues on GP or just user preference?

Sorry Mike, I understood your description of Lite and think that aligns itself roughly with our customers intentions, particularly about dropping inventory, but is there a short cut to turn the unwanted functionality off please?

No worries, much of this functionality comes with GP's "core" implementation/install for the respective module and really isn't a way to turn these features off.

Whether or not it's used is totally up to the users and whether or not it is configured.  One of the drawbacks to this is that the areas will generally still show up when using the standard security model in GP.

You may want to explore creating custom Security Roles and Security Tasks within the system.  As items are removed from a user's security access, they actually won't show up in GP's navigation.  This certainly helps as these different areas can add a lot of tempting buttons to go clicking through.
