Hello all. I did the online trial of Dynamics CRM and loves the sales dashboard that was viisible when you logged in, why is this not in the workgroup edition I installed on my server? Can I get it somewhere and is it easy to install? Thank you in advance for your time.

The dashboard that you saw in CRM Online is only available as part of CRM Online.  It is not currently part of the server based product.  In order to create a sales dashboard for the server based implementation of CRM, you would need to build it yourself using tools such as sharepoint and SQL Reporting Services.  There are many resources on the web for creating your own dashboards.

    Good Luck!

That's unfortunate, it was one of the highlights our sales team was interested in with the system. I wonder if someone has created a duplicated version of this. Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

    Hi Mike,

Yeah - there are few bells and whistles that only crm online has.

We have a tool that basically allows you to create very similar dashboards on the fly.  There others out there too.

There are numerous ISVs that have created dashboards for CRM on-premise, including C360.

On-premise dashboards are rumored to get added in an update rollup soon, and are confirmed for CRM5.

Thanks for your reply. Speaking of CRM5.... will this be upgradable from 4 or is the framwork so different  you'd have to start fresh? Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

There are various items that are new in the crm 5 framework.  However, most customizations if done via approved method should be upgradeable.

Yup, Microsoft is making an agressive effort to ensure that the upgrade from 4 to 5 is a seamless as possible.  CRM 5 will even have a "CRM 4 Mode" for old plugins to use if they don't work with 5's new features.
