Sub-Grid and relationship of the same Entities

Hello,

Im kind of begginer to MS Dynamics, so sorry if my question would be to stupid...

In our company we are using custom made entity called Buildings (storing info about buildings) and also having the name of builiding owner on Form (Account lookup record).

What am trying to achive is the Sub-Grid on the same form showing all buldings with the same owner as a related records. I was playing with 1:N relationship as by a logic one account could own N builidings. But I don´t get any related buildings shown in the form end.

Is it even technicaly possible to set a relationship between same entities?

I´m slowly loosing my mind...

    Hi,

you probably have all the relationships you need already.

Every owner can have many buildings - that's the only 1:N you need

     Try this:

    - Create a quick view form for the accounts

    - Do not add anything to that form - just add a subgrid and chose buildings entity/view for that subgrid

    - Save the form

    - Then open a main form for the "building" entity

    - Add your new account quick form to your building form

    - Save, publish, re-open your building record in the browser (all the usual stuff)

On your building form, you should, now, have a subgrid displaying all the buildings associated with the same owner

    Hi Alex,

thank you for your answer. I tried the proposed, however I had no luck. None of the related buildings were shown.

So I made the opposite way and tried to show "Buildings I own" on the Account form. In the account I got a 1:N relationship already made between Account (primary) and building (related). Account ID has a mapping made to Building owner field on Building form. Than I made a sub grid on account form: Only Related Records, Entity: Buildings (and previously made 1:N reletaionship). However even with this basic setup buildings are not showing on Account Form.

Any ideas please? Im might doing something wrong....
